The performance was excellent! However, it should not be allowed to ooen and close the doors by people or by the organizers during the show.
Interesting way of portraying the problems that beset the lower social classes of the East End in that period;their lack of power and opportunities to influence.Exceptional singing and scenery
The work itself is a bit too long for comfort and the male characters were not always properly integrated into the piece, appearing episodically for reasons not always apparent, but the staging and singing were excellent and the casting of the women exceptional.
I've watched many different Operas and this one was not not fantastic. I found parts of it were very long for what the story was telling. It made me feel like Not everything can be adapted to Opera. This tale being one of hem. Also the Jack the Ripper element of the title is misleading... it's the story of the women and therefore should just have been titled as such. This does not take away f I'm the voices if which were great, but fat too many names when really only two characters could stand out...
Very nice performance!
Excellent production and performance. Very moving emphasis on the plight of the women caught in the turmoil of Whitechapel and the Jack the Ripper era. So glad I experienced this.
Excellent production. Good surtitles otherwise words unintelligible as usual for ENO
the intro, where it was explained to us that they were making opera accessible for 'everyone' was a bit patronising for my taste as for the opera itself, the story took too long to get going & the singing was screechy, I think the singing should be beautiful and heartfelt, it wasent, and I left at the interval its a lovely venue though :)
Great singing and production. Could have done to have been a bit shorter and felt it lost its way a bit at the end. Otherwise thought it was excellent.
The Women of Whitechapel was atmospheric, gripping and thought provoking. Really enjoyed the set and singing. Not 'showy' or over produced.
I did not enjoy the show, left after the 1st part.
Singing was beautiful. The story they were telling lost me.
