HARLEQUINADE
By Terence Rattigan
24 October 2015 - 13 January 2016
In this rarely seen comic gem, a classical theatre company attempts to produce The Winter's Tale and Romeo and Juliet, while the intrigues and dalliances of the company members are accidently revealed with increasingly chaotic and hysterical consequences.
The behind-the-scenes world takes centre stage in Terence Rattigan's affectionate celebration of the lunatic art of putting on a play.
Kenneth Branagh will be joined by Zoë Wanamaker and will co-direct with Rob Ashford.
ZOË WANAMAKER WILL PERFORM RATTIGAN’S ONE-WOMAN PLAY, ALL ON HER OWN, PRIOR TO HARLEQUINADE EACH NIGHT, AS PART OF A NEVER-BEFORE-SEEN DOUBLE BILL.
ALL ON HER OWN
by TERENCE RATTIGAN
Cast includes ZOË WANAMAKER
In this brief but powerfully atmospheric play, a woman with a secret, alone at midnight in London has a burden to share that is at times both heart-breaking and sinister. This never-before-seen double bill celebrates the contrast in Rattigan’s astonishing range.

Fantastic performances and a very entertaining evening. Engaging plays which were a pleasure and honour to watch.
Had a wonderful time. Would gladly go to the same show again, which I very rarely do!
I was a little disappointed. I think the trouble is, that Rattigan has actually become rather dated and his plays are no longer viable in the present climate. The cast seemed rather tired the night we saw it, but that is understandable, given that they are performing "Winter's Tale" at the same time. I was expecting more.
The play was absolutely fantastic, and we really had a fantastic night out, the acting was excellent it's the second play I have seen I was like to see A winters tale and hope to see some more plays. I had no problem with my purchase of the tickets and I opted to pick them up at the ticket office, and will be using this way of purching tickets again.
Very entertaining if a little more panto than expected. KB's performance carried Harlequinade. Brilliant dress circle usher. Support staff are important in terms of whole experience.
ABSOLUTELY DELIGHTFUL!! All On Her Own: Zoe Wanamaker performance was amazing. She took on the persona of her dead husband and her loss was easily felt. She deserved a standing ovation, but I think the audience thought it was an interval! BRAVO Zoe!! Harlequinade: Kenneth Branagh lit up the stage and I enjoyed an afternoon of laughter! The entire cast was phenomenal! Zoe Wanamaker's transition from the serious to the comedic was brilliant!
Two quite different performances, both excellent. Branagh is a genius!
The program started with All On Her Own, a tour de force for Zoe Wanamaker, but not a particularly exciting play. It then segued with no intermission into the utterly delightful Harlequinade--lots of good belly laughs. I hadn't realized what a wonderful physical comedian Kenneth Branagh is. Supported by an excellent cast. Don't forget to read the program notes about Terrence Rattigan; a lot of those gags were taken from real life.
Disappointed with restricted view even though on front row of Grand Circle. Spoilt our enjoyment of a cracking good performance.
Both plays were exceptionally well acted and produced but Rattigan's writing seems a less than robust vehicle for the acting power and talent on display. So it had a kind connoisseur value as I knew neither play but not sure I would want to see them again.
Great mix of poignant and comedy. Enjoyed both plays very much. Can you get the programmes out to the cinemas for their shows?
Excellent play. Thoroughly enjoyable. Reasonably priced ticket- very unusual to get a deal.
