‘There are no commitments, only bargains.’
Annie is an actress, Henry is a playwright, and fiction is the backdrop to life. Hardly a recipe for a faithful marriage, especially when it started as an affair.
But does it matter how it began if what they have is the real thing?
Diving through layers of play and performance, reality and deceit, The Real Thing is Tom Stoppard’s kaleidoscopic comedy of love, infidelity and the stories we tell. Starring James McArdle (Mare of Easttown, The Tragedy of Macbeth) and Bel Powley (Masters of the Air, Everything I Know About Love), and directed by Max Webster (Macbeth, Life of Pi).

Period piece with absolute contemporary relevance. Doesn't take itself to seriously, but hits home. Great production.
This was a very difficult storyline to follow and at times I was totally confused with it. Generally would enjoy Tom Stoppard but this one wasn’t for me unfortunately
Amusing witty entertaining
Brilliant play, did not want it to end.
Very powerful acting and funny a lot of the time.
Excellent revival of Tom Stoppard's witty, intelligent and perceptive play about relationships. Doesn't seem dated, even though the technology and the music reminds you constantly of the 1960s.Highly recommended.
Fantastic show, lots of fun , really slick , great cast. James McArdle was brilliant.
Excellent play, and very nice venue.
Great revival of a funny, truthful and thought- provoking play. Concentration required throughout but is well rewarded!
