Following our announcement that Vanessa Williams and Matt Henry have confirmed that they’ll be leaving The Devil Wears Prada this autumn, leaving two pairs of impossibly stylish shoes to fill. Williams will deliver her final performance as Miranda Priestly on 19 September 2026, with Henry following as Nigel on 17 October. We asked our followers on Facebook, Instagram and Reddit to dream cast their replacements, but before the suggestions began, there was an enormous outpouring of love for the departing stars. Many fans simply refused to contemplate the musical without them, declaring Williams and Henry the forever “Queen and King of Runway” and praising the current cast as perfect. (We'll be sure to pass those messages on to Miranda. We're certain she'll be... deeply moved.)

Two of The Devil Wears Prada Musical's original stars have confirmed when they'll be strutting out of the musical. After leading the production since its UK premiere in 2024, Vanessa Williams (Ugly Betty, Desperate Housewives) will be stepping down as Runway’s editor in chief on 19 September 2026. Ever the loyal friend, Miranda’s number 2 Nigel (played by Matt Henry) will also be following in Williams’ Valentino footsteps, leaving the musical on 17 October 2026. We know that a million actors would kill for the roles Williams and Henry have left, but it is currently unconfirmed who will be the lucky two taking over.  Based on Lauren Weisberger's bestselling novel and the hit 2006 film, The Devil Wears Prada Musical follows aspiring journalist Andy Sachs (Stevie Doc), whose life is turned upside down when she lands a job as assistant to fashion's most feared editor, Miranda Priestly (currently Vanessa Williams). Drawn into the glamorous, high-pressure world of Runway magazine, Andy soon discovers that success comes with a price, forcing her to question how much she's willing to sacrifice for the career of her dreams.

We have launched a brand-new video series celebrating Pride Month, bringing together some of the biggest names in the West End to explore the relationship between theatre and the LGBTQ+ community. Featuring stars from leading productions including The Devil Wears Prada, Kinky Boots, Oh, Mary! and more, the series discusses the importance of representation, allyship and the role theatre plays as a space for belonging, creativity and self-expression. Stage and screen star Vanessa Williams (Ugly Betty, The Devil Wears Prada, Desperate Housewives), Olivier Award winner Matt Henry (Kinky Boots, The Lion King, The Devil Wears Prada) and actor Dino Fetscher (Oh, Mary!, Silent Witness, Under Salt Marshes) speak exclusively to us about Pride, the community and how to be the best ally possible. They are joined throughout the series by Ru Fisher and Tosh Awanogho-Maud (Kinky Boots), Freddie King and Michael Vinsen (Titanique), and James Davies-Williams and Katie Bradley (Moulin Rouge! The Musical), representing members of the industry both on and off stage. The piece is hosted by drag queen and star of the London cabaret scene, Yshee Black, whose career has included work on C4's Late Night Lycett with Joe Lycett, BBC interviews, performances in the West End and international appearances spanning more than a decade. At a time when Pride celebrations, queer venues and independent LGBTQ+ organisations are facing increasingly difficult times, the project aims to educate, enlighten and uplift fans of theatre and beyond, helping to celebrate actors, front and back of house workers, producers and everyone else who helps make the theatre industry what it is. Speaking as part of the series, Vanessa Williams says: “Activism makes a difference. Whatever you choose to do, people will notice.” On allyship, she adds: “Every chance you can take, be active.” Matt Henry reflects on the support within the community, saying: “People in our community are very open and giving. Never be scared to reach out to those people” Meanwhile, Tosh Awanogho-Maud highlights the importance of standing together: “A lot of awful things can happen when people focus on self-preservation. But amazing things can happen when people are brave.

Few films have defined fashion and ambition (or produced as many memes and iconic quotes) quite like The Devil Wears Prada. It’s no wonder that the fashion-forward musical has inspired others, including writer Kate Wetherhead and director & choreographer Jerry Mitchell, who together created The Devil Wears Prada Musical. The Devil Wears Prada has a banging soundtrack, and the Vogue needledrop is perfect. But Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway never sing along to Madonna, or let us know their deepest emotions through song. This is where the musical has a distinct advantage… Not only does the 11x Grammy nominee, Vanessa Williams, and MAMMA MIA! I Have a Dream winner, Stevie Doc, belt out their characters' deepest thoughts and feelings, but the songs themselves are penned by pop royalty, Elton John. The Rocket Man is no stranger to musicals, having written songs for The Lion King, Aida and Billy Elliot the Musical, among others.  The stage production has a slightly different ending to the film, with some relationships and character arcs taking a different turn. We won’t give spoilers here, you’ll have to watch the musical to find out! “That is all” “groundbreaking” and “floral for spring” all get a mention in the musical, however some of the more toxic lines delivered in the 2006 film aren’t seen in the stage adaptation. It still has all the sass and barbed criticism - Andy’s skirt doesn’t come away unscathed - however it doesn’t come with the thin-centric, fatphobic lines. Andy isn’t referred to as fat and Nigel doesn’t give her the nickname “8” in reference to her dress size (which, to Runway's standards, was plus-size and not to be celebrated). We’re very glad it’s gone, and that they’ve avoided referencing Andy’s, or anyone’s, weight in the recent The Devil Wears Prada 2.  Is The Devil Wears Prada 2 Movie Plot going to be in the musical? No, The Devil Wears Prada Musical remains a direct adaptation of the original story, based on Lauren Weisberger’s novel and the 2006 film. It does not incorporate plot elements from the sequel. However, the musical does present a more contemporary take on the fashion industry, giving the story a modern edge that feels fresh for today’s audience. The Devil Wears Prada is releasing its original cast recording on CD, digital and LP from 19 September via Island EMI. To tide fans over in the meantime, the first single, Miranda Girl, sung by Georgie Buckland as Andy, is already out along with a brand new music video. Since opening at the Dominion Theatre last year, the West End production has broken box office records and continues to sell out night after night. Now, audiences can take the music home, with all 18 tracks from Elton John’s score performed by the original West End cast; Vanessa Williams as Miranda, Matt Henry MBE as Nigel, Georgie Buckland as Andy, Amy Di Bartolomeo as Emily, Rhys Whitfield as Nate and James Darch as Christian. Adding extra sparkle, the album also features two never-before-heard Elton John demos - I Mean Business and The Devil Wears Prada - the early blueprints that shaped the show. A 12-track LP edition will also be available.
